Located in Bahcesehir, Istanbul, Demiroz Multifunctional Endowment Campus is placed on 42 acres with 21500 Sqm enclosed space. The project consists of a primary school, a junior-high school, a science high school, dormitories, public sport facilities and a prayer lounge.
The aim of the design to create harmony between buildings with the inclined topography taken into consideration. With this approach, a gradual settlement is provided but also the buildings are placed on boundaries of the existing green spaces without any interference. Gradual settlement also allowed the buildings to be separated according to different age groups.
There are common spaces within each and every building in addition to the several sized wooden decks which are placed on certain points around the pedestrian axis for the multipurpose use. Besides this pedestrian axis is considered not only as a circulation element but also a social axis.
A phased construction is planned for the campus. The project is initiated with the design of the science high school building.
The building is designed as four floors with 20 classrooms, laboratories, workshops, cafeteria, multi-purpose hall, library and sport facilities. On the ground floor, there are administrative units and workshops. Basement floor is divided into common areas such as dining hall, library, multi-purpose hall. And classes are located on the upper floors.
The common areas where students spend their free times out of course have an important place in the design process. Therefore lounges are created on each floors with galleries opening on one on another. In this context, wooden decks and green texture in the general campus design are also included in the school garden.
The openings of various sizes on the facade have achieved homogeneous integrity with the metal mesh, which is a second facade that surrounds the structure. The simple design concept of the building is continued inside by using the raw form of concrete.
